Fencing FAQs

Side and rear boundary fences are generally capped at 1.8m without needing council approval, though some councils and pool-fencing rules differ. We'll confirm what applies to your specific property during the site visit.
Under the NSW Dividing Fences Act, both neighbours are usually expected to share the cost of a 'sufficient dividing fence' — though upgrades beyond the standard are often the requesting owner's cost. We can talk you through it.
Colorbond suits low-maintenance, long-term durability and coastal exposure. Timber suits a softer, more traditional look but needs more upkeep. We'll give you an honest read on which suits your site.
Most standard residential fences don't need a DA, but pool fences, fences over 1.8m, or fences on a heritage-listed property might. We check this as part of the quote so there are no surprises.
